The Finnish Technical Communication Society has been a very active member of the international societies from the beginning. At the moment, we are a member of TCeurope, and aim to co-operate also with other national societies.
TCeurope (Technical Communication in Europe) is a federation of societies in Europe whose goal is to promote technical communication. TCeurope is registered in Brussels and funded by the membership fees it collects from its member societies.
FTCS was one of the founding members of TCeurope and our delegates have had several board roles. Tarja Tolvanen was the treasurer, Terhi Sipilä both secretary and chair, and Eeva Viljanen the secretary. Our current delegate is Nick Hill.
The benefits of the TCeurope membership are a more extensive exchange of information and knowledge between specialists in technical communication and the possibility to participate in international projects together with technical communicators from other countries.
For the FTCS members, the most visibile TCeurope activity is their Colloquium. In 2017, the TCeurope Colloquium was arranged in Helsinki, and it was the largest Colloquium that TCeurope’s ever had.
