STVY Seminar 7-8 May 2020

Content Management: Bringing It All Together

Call for Papers

The Finnish Technical Communications Society is organizing a two-day seminar in Tampere on 7-8 May 2020. The seminar theme is Content Management: Bringing It All Together. The seminar is going to be held in Valtatie 30, which is already familiar to many of us from the 2018 seminar.

Companies generate and present a continuous stream of information for customers and potential customers. This content includes technical documentation, user guidance, social media, sales & marketing, AR, VR, and other outputs. In many cases these different kinds of content are created by different groups within a company. This often results in the content being brand compliant, but not aligned. As professional technical communicators, what are our options in responding to this challenge?

We are inviting presentations on topics such as:

  • Case studies in how your company manages its content: the good and the not so good
  • Technologies, tools, and processes that can help manage the relevant issues
  • How do we integrate the lessons from UI and UX design?
  • Transformation: How do you make the changes required?
  • Social Media, Chatbots, AR, VR: How do you integrate these channels?
  • Localization and translation: How do you present the information in different languages and cultures?

Presentations on other topics are also welcome.

If you are interested in speaking at the seminar, send your abstract (max 250 words) and a speaker bio (max 100 words) to puheenjohtaja@stvy.fi by 31 December 2019. Acceptance notifications will be sent by 15 January 2020. We will use your abstract and bio in promoting the seminar if you are selected as a presenter. Final presentations need to be delivered to the puheenjohtaja email address by 17 April 2020. Presentations will be made available to attendees during the seminar and STVY reserves the right to publish presentations on its website.

The conference languages are Finnish and English. Presentations should be 30 minutes long, followed by a 15 minute question and answer session.

We ask you to forward this Call for Papers to others who might be interested in presenting at the seminar. We are aiming to attract approx. 125 technical communicators ranging from students to very experienced professionals from across Finland.

Information on registration, accommodation and other practicalities will be posted on this web site later.
